The Diamond

The Diamond

In January we consulted customers about proposed improvements to the Diamond service 43/44. Over 300 people took part and shared their views, read full information on our Customer Consultation page.

  • You will have already seen the newer orange Mercedes buses which are being introduced to the route, along with a fresh new look for the buses.  From this date the service will be gold standard, giving a guarantee of service quality and standards.
  • As a result of the consultation we are not changing the routes of our services and both 43 and 44 will continue to run as they do now in Whickham and the evening and Sunday service 43 will continue to serve Flint Hill.
  • In Sacriston, to improve reliability and speed up journeys, Diamond buses travelling towards Durham will no longer serve the bus stop in the turning circle at Fynway.  Alternative bus stops are located nearby for customers travelling to Durham.
  • On Sunday’s, from 25 March, we’re introducing a new X43 service providing a faster link between Metrocente and Stanley.  Diamond service 43 and 44 will each operate hourly but on common sections of route will be co-ordinated to offer a half hourly service. The Sunday morning service 43B will run via the normal 43 route, offering new links for Flint Hill and Sunniside estate at these times improving access to the Metrocentre.

Cleaner buses - Our Kite Mark explained

Kite Mark 3Go North East has one of the cleanest bus fleets of its size in the country and to make it even easier for you to see how well your bus is doing to help look after the environment, we have introduced a new ‘kite mark’ on our buses.

Using simple illustrations based on a red kite bird taking flight, each symbol lets you see at-a-glance how each of our buses meet European standards on emissions. Find out more about cleaner engines.
