Get Around Terms and Conditions

Get Around Tickets – Terms & Conditions from 11th May 2011

The validity of Get Around tickets are covered by these terms and conditions.  Get Around tickets can be purchased, stored and used on the key smartcard. The use of the key smartcard is covered by our terms and conditions of use for the key which are available at simplygo.com/thekey.

  1. Get Around tickets offer a range of tickets for travel on Go North East services to all under 18 and those over 18 in full time education.  For full details on the ticket range visit simplygo.com/thekey.
  2. Get Around tickets are purchased, stored and used on the Get Around key smartcard.  Get Around day tickets may also be purchased on the bus, and issued as a paper ticket, providing a  valid Get Around key smartcard is shown when the ticket is bought and used.
  3. The Get Around key smartcard are issued in two age groups; under 18 and 18-22 years.  It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that they have a valid Get Around ID card.
  4. Discounts for full time students over 22 are provided on the key smartcard and available by calling 0845 60 60 260.
  5. Get Around tickets are valid for travel by one person (the person named on the key smartcard), per ticket, per journey. 
  6. Get Around tickets are valid until midnight or end of service (whichever is later) on the expiry date of the ticket.
  7. Get Around tickets are valid across the region on the Go North East network but are not valid on our night bus services which run overnight and have an “N” in front of their service number.
  8. Where multibuys of tickets are purchased each ticket is stored independently of the others. A ticket will start when the key is first used on the bus after the previous ticket has expired.
  9. Get Around tickets are not transferable and may be used only by the person for whom the ticket was purchased and is pictured on the Get Around key smartcard when used.  If a ticket is transferred, it will be confiscated and both the person to whom it was issued and the person to whom it was transferred or attempted to be transferred, will be liable to prosecution. 
  10. The law states that it is an offence for a passenger to use, or attempt to use, a ticket which has been altered or defaced, a ticket issued or another person where that ticket is not transferable, or an expired season or other such ticket without reasonable excuse. The company will prosecute passengers who break the law in this way.
  11. Get Around ticket holders do not have priority over other passengers and the company cannot be held liable for the consequences arising from any lack of accommodation on a particular journey.
  12. On boarding passengers must present their Get Around key smartcard to the key reader on the bus for electronic inspection.  If using a paper day ticket the key smartcard and paper ticket should be shown to the driver for inspection.  The driver can request to see the key smartcard at anytime.
  13. Get Around tickets, including the key smartcard, remain the property of the company. Any holder shall not attempt to use their ticket after the expiry date, and any person attempting to travel by the use of an expired ticket will be liable to prosecution.
  14. Get Around tickets are issued in accordance with our conditions of carriage and terms of use of the key smartcard.
  15. We have a standard refund policy which applies in all cases. This policy will be subject to revision and Go North East reserves the right to change this policy without notice.
