Simply buy, show and go – your bus ticket straight to your mobile

Buy tickets with our m-ticket app and turn your phone into your bus ticket. Just buy your ticket on our free m-ticket app, then just show your phone to the driver when you get on.  Tickets are easy to buy and can be used straight away or saved for future trips.

Buying tickets with our free m-ticket app makes traveling with us easier and cheaper and gives you a more convenient way to buy your bus tickets, saving you time and money.

Your favourite ticket types are available and most are cheaper than those bought on the bus.

how does it work

Download our free app from Google play or the App Store.

App Store Android market

Once you have chosen and paid for your ticket with your debit or credit card, it's stored on your phone. You can buy tickets to travel on the same day or in advance.

When you get on the bus show your phone screen clearly to the driver as you would a paper ticket.

The Go North East m-ticket app is free to download from Google play or the Apple App store. Just search for Go North East in the app search.

  • Buzzfare 1, 7 and 28 day
  • Get Around 1, 7 and 28 day (You must also have a valid Get Around key card)
  • All weekly route savers
  • Buzzfare Family Day Ticket (valid for up to two adults and three children in a group containing 1 or 2 adults and at least 1 child under 16)

Welcome and Registering

  • Once you have downloaded the app, you will see this screen when it is loading.
  • First time users, you will have to register your details. Simply enter your name and contact information, then tap the green “Sign Up” button at the top.

  • Depending how your phone is set up, you can choose to remain logged in, or to log in each time you visit the M-ticket app.
  • This screen gives you the option of buying tickets straight away, visiting the key mobile app to check times and travel news or you can read the full terms and conditions.

Buying a ticket

Available tickets:

  • Buzzfare 1, 7 and 28 day
  • Get Around 1, 7 and 28 day (You must also have a valid Get Around key card)
  • All weekly route savers
  • Buzzfare Family Day Ticket (valid for up to two adults and three children in a group containing 1 or 2 adults and at least 1 child under 16)

Choose your ticket:

Once you know which ticket you want to buy, simply make your choice, paying attention to the zone if it is a Buzzfare ticket.

M-ticket choice

The next screen shows a summary of your ticket choice.

Adding to basket:

  • Once you are happy that you have selected the correct ticket, you can then tap the green “Add to basket” button.

Completing the purchase:

  • Your basket is then added with the ticket you have chosen. Tap the green button to complete this.
  • To fully complete the purchase, follow the online instructions to register a payment card, or use one that has already been registered.

Managing your tickets:

Ticket activation:

  • Once you have purchased your ticket, you get the chance to activate this straight away, or keep it for a later date.
  • If you want to activate it now, tap “Activate Now”.
  • As soon as you activate your ticket, depending on type of ticket you have purchased, a countdown is shown to when this is valid until.

Your M-ticket:

M-ticket valid

  • This is what your ticket looks like. There is a randomly generated four letter word in a coloured box at the top, which has an animation type effect.
  • To travel, just show this to the driver when you board the bus.
  • Remember if you have purchased a Get Around ticket, you must also have a Get Around ID card to travel.

Expired ticket:

  • When your ticket validity has counted down, the ticket expires.
  • The 4 letter word will be replaced with “Expired” and can be no longer used.

Other Questions you may have

Security:

Your payment is completely secure being processed through Secure Trading which offers offer the most reliable, fully Level 1 PCI DSS compliant Payment Gateway. Go North East does not hold any information about your financial transaction other than details of the type of tickets you purchase and when and where the purchase was made.

What if I have problems?

You should ensure that your battery is charged enough to enable you to show the driver the active ticket when travelling. If you cannot produce the ticket on your phone, you should pay the appropriate fare for your journey.

Lost Signal:

If you have already purchased a ticket on your phone ready for activation, you will be able to activate this without a signal.
