We're improving our services to Team Valley in response to customer feedback and research.
Our changes in summary
- Extended 91 across Newcastle City Centre to Pilgrim Street

Team Valley Bus Services
The Team Valley has a range of bus services providing direct links and connections to buses across the region including direct links to Gateshead, Newcastle, Metrocentre, Sunderland and Washington.
As well as bus services on Team Valley itself many services stop at the edges near Main Gate at the north end and Sainsbury’s at the south end where it’s possible to change to the frequent Loop services or to walk into Team Valley.
A summary of the services and any changes from 29 January are shown below.
The main bus service through Team Valley, The Loop 93/94 is not changing as part of these changes and continues to run up to every 15 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes, linking Team Valley with Gateshead, Low Fell, Wrekenton and Heworth.
Service 91/91A Newcastle to Team Valley Express
- This service has been extended across Newcastle City Centre to Pilgrim Street with journeys timed to meet “on the hour” and “on the half hour” work start and finish times as requested by customers.
- Most journeys will now be operated by red double deck buses to offer more seats at busy times instead of the silver single deck Team Valley Clipper buses.
- In Team Valley all journeys will run via Kingsway in both directions starting and finishing at the South End Bus Station near Retail World.
- In Newcastle City Centre buses to Team Valley leave Pilgrim Street and stop at Market Street, Grainger Street and Central Station and from Team Valley buses stop at Bewick Street, Grainger Street, Market Street, John Dobson Street and finish at Pilgrim Street.
- As part of these changes the early morning 5.04am journey from West Chirton will operate 8 minutes earlier and the 6.05am Saturday journey from Team Valley is withdrawn.
Service 92 – East Gateshead to Team Valley
This service will now run every 30 minutes at peak times Monday to Friday and is extended to Ellen Wilkinson Estate in Wardley running anti clockwise around the estate in the morning and clock wise in the afternoon.
Service 930 West Gateshead to Team Valley
- This service will now be service 90 and will to run every 30 minutes at Monday to Friday peak times from Winlaton to Team Valley via Metrocentre giving connections to other services across the region.
- In Team Valley all buses operate via Kingsway in both directions starting and finishing at the South Bus Station near Retail World.
- Buses will no longer serve Blackhall Mill, Chopwell and High Spen. Customers from these areas should use Toon Link service 47 and The Pulse 69A changing at Metrocentre onto the new service 90.
New Metrocentre service 90
- The new service 90 will link Team Valley with Metrocentre at peak times Monday to Friday every 30 minutes.
- In Team Valley all buses operate via Kingsway in both directions starting and finishing at the South Bus Station near Retail World.
- Aside from being the UK's biggest shopping centre it provides a great place to connect to other bus services across the region.
Service 939 – Sunderland and Washington to Team Valley
- This service will operate every 30 minutes at peak times Monday to Friday between Washington Concord, Galleries and Team Valley giving connections to other services including our frequent Metrolink M1 and Red Arrows X1 to Easington Lane, Hetton and Houghton and surrounding areas.
- The service operates to/from Sunderland Park Lane and Southwick and runs direct along the A1231 Washington Highway calling at Waterview Park.
- In Team Valley all buses will run via Kingsway in both directions.
