Why are fares increasing on Sunday, 6 April?
Over the last year, the price of fuel has shot up and our fuel bill is now 56% higher than it was 12 months ago. That means for every day of the year we need to find an extra £10,500 just to meet this increased cost – that's £4m in just one year!
We work very hard to limit fare increases to just once a year and, despite the continuing fuel rises, we were hoping we could hold out until our planned fare review in July before making any necessary increases.
We have kept our fares pegged to current levels as long as we can, but unfortunately, we can no longer absorb the substantial increases in the cost of fuel and have no choice but to increase fares.
Fares will, therefore, have to increase from Sunday, 6 April.
There are some exceptions, but fares generally will increase as follows:
10p on fares under £1.50
20p on fares from £1.50 to £3.80
Fares above £3 will be simplified to £3, £3.50 or £4, although many are unchanged.
All single fares will be in multiples of 10p for simplicity and speed. Day Returns will also increase.
We still offer exceptional value for money and frequent travellers will be delighted to know we have no current plans to increase our fare-saver schemes, BuzzFare, Get Around or Transfares.
