Inspiration

Reflections…Memories into Action is inspired by the life, work and dedication of former Go Ahead Group Chief Executive Christopher Moyes OBE, who passed away in September 2006.

One of the original directors of Go North East, Christopher will always be part of the historical heart of the Go Ahead Group. His outstanding contribution to the UK transport industry earned him an OBE in 2006 but he was also committed to causes beyond this field, particularly in the
North East of England. This commitment was reflected by Christopher’s contribution to the education and development of young people through his position as Chairman of the Council of Durham University. He was
also Deputy Lieutenant of County Durham prior to his untimely death.

Go North East

Go North East is the leading bus operator in North East England and part of The Go Ahead Group plc, a major public transport service provider. The Go Ahead Group is based in Newcastle and owns several of the country’s leading bus, rail, airport and car parking service companies.

Go Ahead recognises that public transport is an integral part of the communities it serves. Our companies are closely involved in their local communities through schemes to help make public transport a priority, and through charitable contributions.

Commitment and Dedication

Go North East is committed to North East England and the Reflections Charity Initiative is a key part of that deep involvment. Reflections provides an opportunity to remember the contribution made by famous or not so famous local people, those many unsung heroes. It also offers the opportunity to support local charities in the vital services they provide for local people.

Reflections puts Memories into Action by offering you the opportunity to dedicate one of the Company’s 600 buses for one year in the name of someone you feel has made a mark on the lives of others in the region during their lifetime. In return, we invite you to make a donation to one of the local charities participating. 100% of your contribution goes to the nominated charity.

The minimum donation for a dedication will be £150; for this amount the person you have nominated will receive an internal plaque detailing some of the reasons that made them so important and special. Donations of £250 or more will also include two external plaques displaying the name of the person and a charity of your choice.

Additionally Go North East will make a donation of £100 or more to the charity of your choice for every dedication. Our fleet of vehicles reach out region wide to serve the local community, and are seen by thousands of people seven days a week, every week of the year. The photographs shown give an indication of how the different types of dedication plaques on offer will appear on the bus. If you make a donation we will give you an opportunity to see how your dedication will look on your choice of bus, and we will agree with you any text for the internal plaque.
