Lime

lime service 8 runs from Chester-le-Street to Sunderland via Rickleton, Harraton, Washington Galleries, Waterview Park and Sunderland Royal Hospital. Buses run every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes.

lime buses 78 and 78A run from Consett bus station to Sunderland Interchange, via Leadgate, Annfield Plain, Stanley, Craghead, Newfield, Chester-le-Street, Great Lumley and Shiney Row.

Combined lime 7 and 78 buses give a 15 minute Monday to Saturday daytime frequency between Stanley, Chester-le-Street and Sunderland.

The cycle friendly bus

lime buses have been especially equipped with secure fastenings for bikes, so you can take your bike on board - as well as the appropriate passenger fare, an additional charge of £2 is charged per journey for a bike.

  • Each bus can carry one full sized cycle in the buggy/wheelchair bay; for the safety and comfort of other passengers, bikes must be reasonably clean and in good order
  • To secure your bike, stand your bike upright with the front wheel facing the back of the bus; loop the belt straps around the top of the wheel and through the spokes and click the fastener into place; for safety sake it is advised that you remain with the bike at all times
  • The area used for bikes is shared with passengers using a wheelchair or with children in buggies, so we have to decide who would take priority - if someone using a wheelchair wants to travel when a bike is already on board, our driver will ask the cyclist to give up their space; cyclists are under no obligation to leave the bus, however, if they do, are entitled to a full single fare refund plus £2

Kite Mark Euro 2Cleaner buses - Our Kite Mark explained

Go North East has one of the cleanest bus fleets of its size in the country and to make it even easier for you to see how well your bus is doing to help look after the environment, we have introduced a new ‘kite mark’ on our buses.

Using simple illustrations based on a red kite bird taking flight, each symbol lets you see at-a-glance how each of our buses meet European standards on emissions. Find out more about cleaner engines.
