Our Metrolink M1 is the frequent link from Heworth to Concord, Washington, Fatfield, Shiney Row, Bournmoor, Fence Houses and Houghton-le-Spring. Buses run every 10 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes, then up to every 30 minutes in the evening and on Sundays. Connections can also be made at Washington Galleries with the X1 to Newbottle, Easington Lane, Gateshead and Newcastle.
As well as the frequent M1, we run the 922, which is a direct service between Heworth, Washington and Rainton Bridge Business Park at peak times - perfect if you work at Rainton Bridge.

Our Cheap Day return tickets will save you money if you're making a longer journey on one service there and back on the same day.
If you travel on our services a few times a week then you will save money with our range of weekly, monthly or annual Buzzfare tickets. What’s more, once you get your ticket, you can use it as much as you want including evenings & weekends!
Our MetroLink services run within our Red and Purple Buzzfare zones giving you a week of unlimited travel from £16.30. Tickets are available from the driver and travel shops or save 10% by purchasing your ticket online.
Plus, you could save another 25%, compared to the price of individual 28 day tickets, if your employer buys an annual ticket for you under our corporate discount scheme - contact us for full information.
For 19-22 year olds our range of Get Around tickets give massive discounts with tickets offering unlimited travel starting at £3.20 a day!
Travelling onto Metro?
In addition to our own range of tickets there are also tickets available for travel between Go North East services and Metro.
Transfare and Day Rover tickets are available from bus drivers, Shields Ferry and Metro ticket machines or visit a Travelshop or buy your ticket online for 1 week, 1 month or 1 year.
With over 80 top name high street stores and specialist retailers, the Washington Galleries Shopping Centre has something for everyone. There’s also a retail park that’s a short walk away from the Galleries that includes Next, Home Bargans and Brantano Footwear.
Red arrows buses give frequent links and the Bus Interchange is the perfect gateway to the Galleries Shopping Centre. Our staff will be on hand to help you with travel queries from 0700 to 1900 Monday to Friday and from 1000 to 1800 on Saturday.
