On the route

Durham City

There’s always plenty to see in this picturesque historic city, built on the banks of the River Wear. Durham is a World Heritage site and has many historic buildings, quaint streets and a soaring Cathedral. Durham also has a variety of new and niche shops making it the perfect place for a great day out.

Chester-le-Street

Riverside, home to Durham County Cricket Club, and Lumley Castle are within easy reach from Chester-le-Street centre using our Lambton Worm 71 or Lime 78. The town also offers a great selection of shops and markets.

Bishop Auckland

The gateway to the Wear Valley, Weardale and Teesdale. Visit Auckland Castle, home of the Bishops of Durham for around 800 years, or Brandon Railway Path which starts near to the north side of the Newton Cap Viaduct and offers spectacular views of the Wear Valley.

Cleaner buses - Our Kite Mark explained

Kite Mark 3Go North East has one of the cleanest bus fleets of its size in the country and to make it even easier for you to see how well your bus is doing to help look after the environment, we have introduced a new ‘kite mark’ on our buses.

Using simple illustrations based on a red kite bird taking flight, each symbol lets you see at-a-glance how each of our buses meet European standards on emissions. Find out more about cleaner engines.
