This service calls at ALL bus stops between Langley Park, Stringer Terrace and Wrekenton High Street Bus Link then runs fast to Gateshead and Newcastle calling only at the following places:
Old Durham Road Ambulance Station (Queen Elizabeth Hospital), Gateshead Interchange, Hills Street (drop off only), John Dobson Street and Eldon Square Bus Station.
Return journeys from Newcastle call at Eldon Square Bus Station, Newgate Street (Wilkinson’s), St Nicholas Street (Castle Garth), Gateshead Interchange, Old Durham Road Travellers Rest (Queen Elizabeth Hospital), and Wrekenton High Street Bus Link then ALL stops to Langley Park Stringer Terrace.

Bobby Robson was born in Sacriston, Co Durham on 18th February 1933, but lived the majority of his younger days in Langley Park. Bobby’s career in football started in 1950 as a player with Langley Park Juniors and then turned professional with Fulham FC, where he spent six years until 1956, then moved to West Bromwich and stayed until 1962, before returning once more to Fulham FC. Bobby Robson’s playing talent was also recognized by the England team, where he earned twenty caps and scored four goals for his country. He scored 2 goals on his debut against France and also scored in the 9-3 win over Scotland in 1961. His career in management began with Fulham in 1968.
In 1969 he became manager of Ipswich Town for 13 happy years. 1982 was a momentous year for Bobby Robson, when he took up the prestigious role of manager for the England team. He remained the England manager for 8 years and a total of some 95 matches.
The undoubted highlights were the World Cups of Mexico 1986 and Italia ‘90. The 1990s saw Bobby move into European football as manager at PSV Eindhoven in Holland, Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto in Portugal, and at Barcelona in Spain - each club had considerable success under Bobby Robson’s leadership.
Under Bobby’s management, Ipswich Town FC won the FA Cup and UEFA Cup, PSV Eindhoven won the Dutch League Championship, FC Porto won the Portuguese Cup, Super Cup and the Portuguese League Championship, while Barcelona won the European Cup winners cup, Spanish Cup and Spanish Super Cup.
1999 saw Bobby Robson return to the north east of England as manager of Newcastle United and in his first home game at St James’ Park against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday 19 September, the Newcastle team won 8–0.
One of the pleasures of Bobby`s life was working with some of the worlds best players - these included Kevin Beattie at Ipswich, Bryan Robson, Paul Gasgoigne, Peter Beardsley and Gary Lineker with England, Romario and Ruud van Nistelrooy at PSV, Luis Figo and Ronaldo at Barcelona, and Alan Shearer at Newcastle.
In 2002, Bobby Robson was knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List and became Sir Bobby Robson. Sir Bobby Robson went on to receive an Honorary Doctorate from Newcastle University in 2003 and in 2005 he became an Honorary Freeman of Newcastle.
In 2007, Sir Bobby received the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Lifetime Achievement Award. 2008 saw Sir Bobby Robson made Honorary Freeman of the City of Durham and he launched the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
In 2009, Sir Bobby opened the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation focuses on the early detection and treatment of cancer and the clinical trials of new drugs that will eventually beat it.

Sir Bobby Robson fought cancer an incredible five times. Sadly, 17 years after his first diagnosis, he lost that long and courageous battle on 31 July 2009.
Sir Bobby Robson died very peacefully at his County Durham home with his wife, Lady Elsie and family beside him.
During the last 18 months of his life and after retiring from football management, Sir Bobby worked hard towards a new goal - fighting cancer through his charity.
The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation focuses on the early detection and treatment of cancer and the clinical trials of new drugs that will eventually beat it.
