Citylink 58 is a new service with its own special branding. The sleek, new Mercedes-Benz buses will offer passengers the highest level of comfort with climate control, low floors and powered ramps for easy access. They’re kind to the environment too, operating with Euro5 engines which keep exhaust emissions to a minimum.
Citylink will provide direct links to Newcastle City Centre and Gateshead and frequent services will run from early morning until early evening on Monday to Saturday, with buses running half hourly in the late evening.
All evening buses will also serve King’s Road, High Farm and Station Road North to maintain link to the Coast Road and Newcastle City Centre. On Sundays, buses will run every 20 minutes until early evening and every half an hour in the late evening.
Travelling from Newcastle city centre to Gateshead and Heworth:
Buses will leave from Sandyford Road, John Dobson Street, New Bridge Street and Pilgrim Street.
Travelling from Newcastle city centre to Hadrian Park:
Buses will leave from Cale Cross House/Tyne Bridge sliproad, Pilgrim Street, John Dobson Street and Sandyford Road.
The new Citylink 58 will provide good connections from Gateshead Interchange with buses to Team Valley, MetroCentre, Sage and Baltic, Gateshead College, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Washington, Sunderland and many parts of County Durham.

Coaster 1 and 2
We are giving both services new routes and timetables, so that they can provide direct links from the coastal resorts and towns in North Tyneside and along the north bank of the river and to the south Gateshead suburbs.
Coaster 1 will run between Whitley Bay Bandstand and Gateshead Interchange, then continue via Low Fell and Allerdene to Kibblesworth.
Coaster 2 will run from Northumberland Square in North Shields to Market Street in Newcastle, and then continue via Gateshead, Low Fell, Allerdene and Harlow Green Estate to Wrekenton.
Travelling from Newcastle city centre:
Heading to Kibblesworth or Wrekenton, both services will leave from Pilgrim Street, outside Maplin Electronics. Heading towards North Shields and Whitley Bay, both services will leave from Market Street East, outside Market Street Police Station.
Travelling from Gateshead centre:
Both services will leave from Gateshead Interchange, Jackson Street and the south end of High Street.
Frequency:
Monday to Saturday daytime
Coaster 1 and 2 will each run half-hourly, but combine to give a service every 15 minutes between North Shields, Wallsend, Byker, Newcastle, Gateshead and Low Fell.
Monday to Saturday evening and all day Sunday
Coaster 1 and 2 will each run hourly. In addition, Coaster 2 will run to and from Whitley Bay to combine with Coaster 1, providing a half-hourly frequency between Whitley Bay Bandstand, Tynemouth, North Shields, Wallsend, Byker, Newcastle, Gateshead and Low Fell. Coaster 1 will then continue to Kibblesworth and Coaster 2 will continue to Wrekenton resuming their hourly frequency.

Between Walkergate Metro and Shields Road in Byker, Coaster 1 and 2 will have a new route via Sutton Street and Fossway to serve Brough Park Stadium, Shopping City and B&Q.

Other buses serving Whitley Bay, Tynemouth and North Shields include Centurion 75, 85, 76 and 86. These services run every 15 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytime and every half an hour in the evening and on Sunday.
