New Pay Award

Go North East bus drivers at Washington and Sunderland bus depots have accepted a pay increase following a new ballot held on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

The result announced last night means that drivers at the two depots will have an increase of 4% backdated to 1 January 2008 and a further increase of 1% from 26 July 2008. Their pay rates will next be reviewed from 1 February 2009. Earlier warnings of possible disruption to some services from industrial action can now be disregarded.

Commercial director Martin Harris commented that “Everyone at the business is pleased that what is in the current climate a very reasonable pay offer has been settled without any inconvenience to customers. This is a common sense result and its business as usual on all our services”
