Eye-catching buses inspire school artwork
Go North East’s brand new, gold Citylink buses caused such a stir among pupils when they began operating past Hadrian Park Primary School on Addington Drive, Wallsend that teachers and the Citylink Service Delivery Manager got together to make the bus the topic of a school painting competition.
Almost three months later, the fourteen winners – one for each Citylink bus – are to be presented with their prizes during a school celebration assembly at 2.30pm on Friday, June 27.
Each winner will receive a limited-edition Citylink mug and a free Go North East travel ticket which can be used by any adult in their family who wants to try out the luxurious buses.

Hadrian Park Primary School Head, Christine Wright said, “The children would come to tell me when they had seen one of the gold buses going past the school, and its arrival at the bus stop during playtime caused a stir for weeks! They feel the gold bus is ‘their bus’ and have really enjoyed taking part in the competition.”
Citylink Service Delivery Manager, Graeme Norris said, “Citylink buses are certainly one of our most glamorous brands and the children have really done them justice with their bright, eye-catching paintings. It was really difficult to choose the winners and I would like to thank all the children who took part.”
Citylink buses run between Hadrian Park and Heworth with stops including Coast Road, Northumbria University, Newcastle city centre and Gateshead Interchange.
