There’s no need to carry cash for your bus journey as your ticket will be delivered direct to your mobile phone, then you’re ready to travel on any
Go North East bus (except our Night Buses which have an N prefix).

txt2go is the UK’s first local bus ticket available via your mobile.

How does txt2go work?
To use txt2go you need to set up an online top up account by clicking on the register button above. As part of the registration process you'll need to register the debit or credit card which you wish to use to top up your credit. You can add up to 5 family members on an account so it’s an easy way to pay for your kids travel. All you have to do is keep your account topped up.

You can choose from two types of bus ticket:

*Children must carry a Nexus under 16, Durham IIC, or Go North East Get Around ID card for proof of age.

How to buy your txt2go ticket

To buy a ticket just text “Bus Day” or “Bus Single” to 60060 from your mobile. Your txt2go ticket will be sent to your mobile within a few minutes. When you recieve your txt2go ticket just follow the instructions with the text message to view it.

How to use your txt2go ticket

Once you have received your ticket on your mobile phone, you are ready to travel. Just ensure your phone screen is displaying your ticket and show it to the driver as you get on the bus. The driver will check the date, time and security code.

You must make sure your battery is charged sufficiently to allow you to show the ticket to the driver and for the duration of your journey. If you cannot show your txt2go ticket, you will have to pay the standard fare for your journey on the bus.

Topping up your account
You can top up your account in three different ways.

1. Web Top Up
You can top up your account online from your txt2go account pages. Just click on the account maintenance tab and select “Top up options”.

2. Mobile Top Up
You can top up your balance direct from your mobile. To do this just text “BUS topup” and the amount in whole pounds to 60060. For example if you wanted to top up your account by £10 just text “BUS topup 10” to 60060.

3. Auto Top Up
You can set up your txt2go account to automatically top up your account balance should it go below the value of the ticket which you are trying to purchase.

Just click on the account maintenance tab in your online account pages and select preferences. The auto topup tick box can be found towards the bottom of the page.

Security

txt2go uses secure technology to protect your data so that means you don’t have to carry cash for your bus journey because you can order your bus ticket and top up your account direct from your phone, anywhere, any time. Tickets are locked to your handset which means it cannot be transferred to another phone and because we use secure technology, if you lose your phone txt2go accounts can be frozen at any time.
